Next challenge - BY THE OCEAN WE UNITE

Taking a closer look at ocean plastics

I'm excited to be setting sail with By the Ocean we Unite this August on their Expedition Denmark 2018. By the Ocean we Unite is a Dutch foundation with charitable status (ANBI), on a mission to prevent more plastics from ending up in our oceans. This, as you may know, is a cause close to my heart.

I'll spend just under 3 weeks (divided into 2 legs) on a boat with scientists, researchers, documentary makers and activists who all want to come together to understand the extent of ocean plastics, what can be done to prevent more plastics ending up in the ocean and communicate that to the wider world.

The sailing ship 'Fantastiko', will set sail from Rotterdam on 1st August. To make things a little more challenging for myself, I'm going to cycle from Dunquerke to Rotterdam before the trip sets sail.

The ship will rest between 10-13 August in Copenhagen before departing back to Rotterdam. When I arrive back in the UK, I'll cycle back to London

This really is my perfect adventure holiday, one with purpose and learning, meeting new people, experiencing new environments and cultures. And making a contribution on an issue that matters to me. It will also inform the work I do in my as yet slightly secret upcoming project next year.

I'll share stories on social media throughout the trip so you can follow along on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. If you'd like to support the work of By the Ocean we Unite you can do so here:
